HPL in True Detective

IF you are the kind of lovecraft fan who enjoys finding lovecraftian creatures and atmospheres and themes in movies and tv shows, you'll want to check out this new 4th season on HBO's True Detective. the last episode (3d) for sure took a lurch in that direction.

Ladies and gentlemen, i must apologize. turns out, i was mistaken about a lovecraft aspect in the 4th season of True Detective.

i won't say anything else, in case someone wants to watch it, except to say it was a massive disappointment to many.

I think the goal of the franchise

Spoiler: About the previous seasons

is to depict what appears to be supernatural but to reveal the opposite, but still eerie. At least that's what I gathered from the first three seasons.

What made the franchise notable, though, and especially the first season is not so much Lovecraft as Ligotti.
