Salutations... ;)

Let me say first of all that I am not the type of person to blog about me. Anyone who wants to know anything about me is free to ask, on the understanding that I may well refuse to answer. ;p
But the Great Lord Brian has given us something new to play with, so I have been thinking, what can I do with mine?
Perhaps I can offer a short explanation (or FAQ) for those of you who are new to the Chrons:
The Salutations Thread:
What is Salutations?
Salutations is a thread in the Lounge.
What is the purpose of Salutations?
Salutations is a chat thread. Yes, it started out as my introduction to this place, but somehow, without any of us meaning it, it took on a life of its own and was moved out of Introductions and into the Lounge. It now has almost 25,000 posts.
Salutations is where we hang out of an evening to chat informally about life, the Chrons and everything.
Who is welcome in Salutations?
Everyone. Some of us chat there more regularly than others, but everyone is welcome, from the jaded old hands who wouldn't touch it with a barge pole to the intrepid n00b with a sense of adventure.
What kind of discussion is considered 'off-topic' in the Sal, and thus is likely to be considered 'spam'?
Nothing.
If you're engaging with other members of our community, then you're already using the Sal the way it should be used.
Can I post pictures and links in the Sal?
Yes, as long as they abide by forum rules, same as with everything else.
Can I post pictures of food?
...you've been in there already, haven't you?
What is the difference between the Sal and the Tea Room / Spectral Minglers?
Spectral Minglers, formerly the various incarnations of the Tea Room or 'Quiet Room', is a place to have a quiet cup of tea. It is the heart of the Chrons community, and has been around far longer than the Sal. Just stick your head in, and you'll get an idea of what goes on in there.
The Sal is the place to have a big bowl of chutney and say whatever you like.
What is chutnering?
It is what we do in the Sal. It is superior to spamming, but it isn't necessarily 'serious discussion'.
Why do some people not like chutney?
It is a matter of personal taste, young padawan.
Should I post my introduction to the Chrons in the Sal?
No. You should post your own thread in the 'Introductions' forum, where it will receive the full attention of members, and where you will receive a personal welcome to the site. The rate of new posts in the Sal means that if you post it in there, while those of us who see it will welcome you, it will end up getting lost amidst the general chit-chat.
If anyone has any questions that I have not already covered in my comprehensive FAQ, then I suppose you can ask them here...

That would be great! Although not for my ego, more than likely... Perhaps I should contact Mr Guinness to find out.
And maybe he'd only count the posts where folk were actually still welcoming me as 'welcome posts'. If they have rules for that sort of thing?
But there are a few really massive forums out there, like that Gaia place, and I wonder if there might be some pretty big ones in places like that, too? I wonder if anyone studies these things. I think the world is crazy enough these days that someone probably does.
But what a great thought!
And well, you are always welcome, of course, even if you only post once in a blue moon.
