The Beauty of Birdsong

A foggy Monday morning, reluctant sulky kids, idiots on the motorway. All melts away when you get out of your car to the sound of a robin singing his heart out.

I walked into work in SE London, past large gardens just filled with birdsong. Bluetits, blackbirds and magpies all ecstatic that the snow and cold weather has gone, and getting on with the business of establishing territories in time for spring. Obviously, no one has told them that there is supposed to be more snow on Wednesday...

Memory Rain

Ok, so I found the hand written original of Dad’s poem. I have typed it up exactly as it is. Dad always told me that he wasn’t the most scholarly of children, partly because he spend a good chunk of his 7th year travelling over here on a boat from Oz, and then being evacuated at the beginning of the war from a school in Brockley, SE London. Therefore, if there are grammatical errors – not my strongest point – he’d covered the reasons!

Great line from a movie filled with them.

The fight scene between Westley and Inigo has been deemed the no 1 Fantasy Duels by someone called Mary Robinette Kowal:

A very unproductive day

As part of belonging to the school committee, I agreed to do the monthly newsletter without fully realising what that meant.

So, after the meeting earlier this week I had to get the letter done today ready for distribution to all the kids at school next week. It's taken me 5 hours to compose 2 sides of A4, about our recent fundraising activities and upcoming events.

Haven't been focused on work either, or anything else.

So, as it's taken ages to get my head...

So, as has been pointed out, I had intended to maintain a daily blog, and I've missed a couple of days

This is partly because, now schools are back open, I have a huge amount of work to catch up on so have been really busy.

And then yesterday morning caught me by surprise. I've now given up on our weather people - they don't seem to know their a**e from their elbow. The previous evening I hadn't checked the weather report as during the day there was nothing but warming...
