Hope for the future

Posted 1st July 2010 at 08:20 AM by Ronanida

As an aspiring novelist and a bit of a perfectionist, I have been working on my novel, Tal'mokor Chronicles, for over three years. I have literally forced my friends to read it over and over again, begged my literature teachers to do the same, and they all give me good feedback. But I want something more, a stronger assurance that I am on the right track.
Here, on this forum, I hope to hear criticism that is unbiased by any relationship to me. Here, I hope to meet others like myself and perfect...

New projects

Posted 29th June 2010 at 04:02 PM by Talysia

About this time last year, my sister asked me to make the centrepiece for her wedding cake. She wanted the little bride and groom figures, in full wedding garb, sitting on my now-brother in law's motorbike. That was a challenge!

After some sketches and a lot of time studying photos of the bike, I was able to make a little model out of air-drying clay, complete with figures (and "just married" on the number plate), painted it, and it went down really well. Looking back,...

I sit before you, wrapped in my duvet (sporting a lovely maroon cover that goes particularly well with my green bedsheet, red curtain and yellowing walls) as Dvorak's Sixth keeps me company like an old, comforting duvet (the one I'm physically wrapped in his been with me since I escaped the cot! As has my primary pillow - also attired in maroon).

Ah, the Sixth has bowed out and the Seventh has sidled in.

Literature Surveys are so dull! If it were real literature, then...

Shared moment

Posted 24th June 2010 at 10:02 PM by StormFeather

Iím beginning to lift out of the doldrums. Today, on the face of it, has not been a great day. But, there is a tangible shift in the air, in my perspective, in my confidence Ė in something. The knowledge that I only have a few weeks left before I take a break is heartening, the fact my manager canít actually look me in the eye is strangely inspiring, and the fleeting encounter with a like-minded stranger was fantastically enjoyable

On the drive home, turning right onto the main...
