Things go slow...

Posted 26th June 2010 at 09:10 PM by chopper

They always do, in summer. For a few days I got a decent boost from AltFiction (authorised geekiness! I was almost literally bouncing off the walls! And excellent to meet some Chronites at last!) and I veered back to the Curse, hoping to make some serious headway on that for the first time this year. But, two weeks and barely two thousand words later, I'm remembering why it was such hard work in the first place.

It's the Voice. Not quite as flowery as Janny Wurts, but still waxing...

My Dvorak Duvet

Posted 25th June 2010 at 01:41 AM by Lenny (Lenny, Ineffably So...)

I sit before you, wrapped in my duvet (sporting a lovely maroon cover that goes particularly well with my green bedsheet, red curtain and yellowing walls) as Dvorak's Sixth keeps me company like an old, comforting duvet (the one I'm physically wrapped in his been with me since I escaped the cot! As has my primary pillow - also attired in maroon).

Ah, the Sixth has bowed out and the Seventh has sidled in.

Literature Surveys are so dull! If it were real literature, then...

Shared moment

Posted 24th June 2010 at 10:02 PM by StormFeather

Iím beginning to lift out of the doldrums. Today, on the face of it, has not been a great day. But, there is a tangible shift in the air, in my perspective, in my confidence Ė in something. The knowledge that I only have a few weeks left before I take a break is heartening, the fact my manager canít actually look me in the eye is strangely inspiring, and the fleeting encounter with a like-minded stranger was fantastically enjoyable

On the drive home, turning right onto the main...

Am going through one of my down phases Ė hence the lack of interaction recently.

But I wanted to share this. Iím delighted that Iíve managed to attract goldfinches into the garden, finally. Two of them have been regulars to the feeder over the last few days. They really are the most beautifully coloured birds, and such a joy.

Otherwise, Iím very much in a Ďwhatís the pointí state with work and much of home life. So, to avoid being boring, Iíll stop there.

Ye Tangled Muse

Posted 18th June 2010 at 12:30 AM by w h pugmire, esq.

Just heard from Jerad at Centipede Press to-day that my omnibus, The Tangled Muse, is just about to see print! Gawd, I feel a Lovecraftian faint coming on. It still seems like some unlikely dream to me that Centipede Press is going to do a collection of mine weird fiction. Their books are such beautiful works of art.

I have postponed working on a 20,000 word novella inspir'd by "The Dunwich Horror" -- far too ambitious a project for ye mood I find myself in, one of laziness...
