Feeling positive about writing

Posted 1st April 2013 at 11:44 PM by I, Brian

Well, it's been an interesting month from a writing perspective!

Firstly, I pushed my first chapters to Teresa Edgerton for editing. I asked her to be merciless, and she was.

I knew my first chapters didn't feel right but I wasn't sure how - I experimented with a few things and made excuses for a few things, so as the very slow pace (slow build up is good!).

Teresa suitably ripped it apart.

I'll be honest, it was a bit of a shock to see how bad...

Compton’s dummy lands safely at Blyth International Airport…

Updated 30th March 2013 at 09:50 AM by Gary Compton

Okay so I spat my dummy out a month ago and apparently it was spotted by astronauts at the International Space Station.

The wife says I was menstrual which according to my mother, it runs in the family. The male Compton’s, allegedly, have an occurrence like this every 54 years.

So, it’s a medical fact. Phew I thought I was nuts.

I remember once taking the micky out of someone who did the same and thinking what a silly billy. I would never do that!...

Posted 29th March 2013 at 09:24 PM by J-WO (An on-line decline and fall...)

Last month was science fiction month at Leicester Space Museum and I snapped at the chance of a chat with actor David Jackson who played Oleg Gan in Blakes 7. It proved to be a very pleasant--and occasionally eye-opening!!!--interview...

Posted 27th March 2013 at 10:41 AM by StormFeather

I can't think of an exciting, catchy title for this blog post. It it what it is - an update.

Mum in Law - J, had her op about 3 weeks ago. The overall prognosis was good. They'd caught it early, it was only 13mm in size, and the chances of it having spread were extremely minimal. We were looking a a relatively short bought of radiotherapy and some tablets for 5 years.

We got the test results yesterday.

Unfortunately, the news isn't so good. It has...

The Spool Pidgin Blogpost Classification System

Posted 23rd March 2013 at 09:10 PM by J-WO (An on-line decline and fall...)

Usually I just link to my SF-related posts here. But (though you guys have always seemed to understand where I'm coming from) I've started to notice people are beginning to think I'm a thuggish troll, which I mainly put down to me being earnest one moment and tongue in cheek the next.
To counter this, and to try and stop upsetting people, I'm experimenting with this blogpost classification system.

Thanks for your time.
