Hail, people of the Chrons!

Posted 19th October 2012 at 07:13 AM by Lucky_Lola

Thought I'd stop by and say hello. It's been quite a while!

A series of impulsive decisions and general chaos have lead the hubby and myself back home to New Zealand, where, to the delight of our families, we've resolved to put down roots and generally do what normal people do. Y'know, dog, car, working fridge... the usual sort of normal stuff.

The plunge has been taken!

Posted 16th October 2012 at 09:35 PM by StormFeather

Am now registered with the HMRC, and received my exemption certificate yesterday, which means I don't need to pay National Insurance until next year, unless of course I somehow manage to earn lots in the...

Posted 11th October 2012 at 08:47 PM by Gary Compton

Okay, so I live in a leafy cul-de-sac in Blyth. Picture the scene 15-20 300K 4-5 bedroom detached houses built around 1980.

Most of the neighbours are retired and have lived here since the estate was built. Suddenly a year ago Compo-heathen moves in with his family. Cos I was spackered with my accident. I remained inside the house for 4 months.

Once I started walking the net curtains started to twitch and the Beige Virus started to gestate in their eyes.

Practical Observations: Using Five Senses to Write Science Fiction part 3

Posted 11th October 2012 at 04:36 PM by Stephen4444

Sometimes as a writer, I tend to focus on one sense, and focus on that entirely. It is easy to write visually, and frankly that is how most media feeds us; be it TV, movie, computer, or even books.

Thinking about how, and why adjectives can improve writing; the focus will be on descriptions, that are not visual in nature.

"Because... that is the crutch upon which we lean."

This post will be on Kudzu. In the south, this invasive species is...
