Happy New Year, Blogs Are Back...

Posted 1st January 2009 at 03:18 AM by littlemissattitude
It's nice to see that blogs are back. Thanks to Brian for rescuing them.

Not that I had much time to write anything while they were down. My mother's illness got much worse, and she passed away on 6 December. Since then, I've been busy taking care of everything that needs to be taken care of when someone dies (hint, if you've never been through this: There is a lot to do, a lot of notifications to make, and if you are the only one to do all that, it will take up a lot of your time)....

On knitting...

Hi. My name is littlemissattitude, and I'm a knitter.

Yes. It is an addiction, not unlike our beloved Chrons.

But, you know, I'm really glad I took it up.

I've been spending the past few days watching big parts of the Democratic National Convention. This is not a bad thing, as I am a registered Democrat and so agree with much of what has been said from the dais.

I probably won't watch much of the Republican convention...it wouldn't do to throw something through the television set, and I'm afraid I'd be tempted after listening to just a few minutes of that. I suspect I'll look in from time to time, for the entertainment value, but I'll...

Empty nest syndrome...

Posted 17th August 2008 at 07:44 AM by littlemissattitude
I realized yesterday that I have Empty Nest Syndrome.

This is really strange, considering that I don't have children.

The reason for it is that I've just had to put my mother, who is 83 years old, into a board and care facility after her last broken hip and due to her advancing dementia.

I know I've done the right thing, that I can no longer care for my mother the way she needs to be taken care of. I can't do it by myself anymore. And she seems to be adjusting...

Something old is new again...

Posted 11th August 2008 at 05:42 AM by littlemissattitude
It never ceases to amaze me how quickly Americans forget their past.

In my local Sunday paper this week, one of the stories on the front page of the entertainment section is titled "Movies embrace more midweek openings". It explores the "new" idea of opening films which are expected to be big hits on Wednesday rather than Friday. This is talked about as if it is a brand-new idea, something that has never been tried before.

Which is really, really funny,...
