Lo and behold - today in the post I recieved the recordings that we made last month! The music has been edited down to 45 minutes, divided roughly in half, for our future double album. And I love it - it's excruciating and I love it.
I also got the full recording session, but haven't listened to that yet, the edited version is so good

The full version is great too, but lacks the slick editing of course. But then there are chunks and some entire songs that are missing from the album edit.Posted 6th August 2008 at 09:09 PM by Harpo

Must be cool to hear your music shaped and fitted by an editor for the first time (ie, the first time for the specific cuts)....does it give you ideas and/or images for the pieces that you didn't have in mind when your laid their uncut predecessors down?Posted 7th August 2008 at 04:24 AM by Grimward -
45 minutes for a double CD? Here, I'm embarrassed when I put that little on a single (I am frequently embarrassed)
It's not like vinyl where you gain in quality and dynamic range the shorter it is, you know.
Or are you putting extra data (pictures, video, text) on the disc too?Posted 7th August 2008 at 11:16 AM by chrispenycate - Hehe - no Chris, 45 minutes is just half of the album. We're recording the other half at the end of next week.
All the music is improvised, we play whatever we play, and then we (sometimes) cut the end at a suitable moment and edit it directly against the edited beginning of another piece.Posted 7th August 2008 at 01:45 PM by Harpo
