here's a brand new, wonderfully wonky concept for a fantasy/sf genre.

blood, gore, fancy clothes, religious schisms... all we need is a technological gimmick. i can't quite see Babbage's computational engines in this period....

Well, I remember that Sir John Harington invented the flush toilet during the reign of Elizabeth I ... but I don't suppose that's quite what you had in mind.
