i keep writing in segments - bits and pieces spread across the length and breadth of Malessar's Curse. so when i say i have 58000 words, they don't all join together....
but a marathon couple of weeks has finally seen the first five chapters (and the prologue) stitched together as a coherent narrative. now what will happen is that i'll jump forward again, probably to the middle of the book, to where Cassia actually meets Malessar for the first time. as this takes place in Hellea, a city I've already played about with (cf The Winter Road), it shouldn't be too difficult to ground it.
of course after that i'll have to dodge backwards once more, and bring the party from the wastes to Hellea. i'm not too keen on writing travelogues, but this one is important in that it gives Meredith and Baum room to grow (and Cassia room to fall in love with Meredith, of course...).
or maybe i'll jump even further forward and polish up the ending....
decisions, decisions....
