Looking for movie title

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to find the title of a science fiction movie I saw several years ago. I didn't get a chance then to see the entire movie, but this is what I remember. Hopefully it will jog someone's memory. The movie was made, I think, within the last 5-10 years. I can't recall any of the cast (sorry).

The plot: The main character starts having (what he thinks) are hallucinations, where everyone around him turn into horrible looking creatures, burned and deformed. His familar surroundings change too, furniture and the like becoming old and decayed. Eventually, during one of these "spells" he notices several people dressed in what look like radiation suits. The main character is the only one who can see these suited figures. When they realize that they are being watched they give chase and ---- that's when I had to stop the movie.

If this sounds familar to anyone could they please post the movie title.

Thanks,
richardgc1

Sounds weird and intriguing. Sounds right up my street! If someone does remember it, I'd be interested to know about it too.

Me either though It sounds like it may possibly have been ripped off in an episode of Star Trek: Voyager

The plot style is somewhat similar to John Carpenter's They Live, but it's not the same.

Well, actually that fight scene had me bored to tears given how long it just went on. Even my friend who's a big wrestling fan, and terribly excited about a movie that had "ruddy" Roddy, had to admit that the fight scene was a bit of a "when is this going to END?"
That movie was schizo. For a good while it seemed a fairly good sober alien infiltration movie. When Roddy walks into the store and shouts "I'm here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of gum", it immediately shifts gear to being a very campy sort of movie. Still quite entertaining, but that was a wierd shift.

Hi Nokia,

My thanks to you and the others for taking the time to read and respond to my question. It's always cool when you just join a group and you get some feedback. Some places ignore you like you're some kind of interloper. I say, if you want a private group then make the group private!! < at ease, Rich >

True, if I had just one piece of information, an actor's name, director, producer, even the year the movie came out, I'd be able to find the title fairly quickly. But, alas, I don't have anything!

I've asked a few of my friends and one thinks he saw the movie. He's hazy on the details, but remembers the beginning as I described before, with the actor (and later a woman who joins him ), being pursued by figures who are invisble to others. He remembers only two other scenes.

1. The two leads search some building (a bomb shelter?) and fail to notice a newspaper lying about that's dated far in the characters' future.

2. Later in the movie the duo talk to some people in a (refugee?) camp who explain that it's "really" the future after a nuclear war and a mysterious group ( maybe named the Controllers or the Dominators? ) is using some sort of mind control device to fool everyone into thinking that things are normal. Only pain counteracts this mind control ( the camp inhabitants stick themselves with sharp objects to maintain their grip on reality). But even this explanation is not the whole truth---but that's all my friend remembers.

Sounds like cross between The Matrix (altered realities)and the Charles E. Fritch s.s. Big, Wide, Wonderful World (drugs or mind control used to suppress the terrible post-war conditions).

**ravenus is right, it does sound vaguely like They Live. Can't say about the Voyager episode Quokka mentioned. I stopped watching Roddenberry's franchise after DS9. lol

Anyway, thanks for your help. BTW, do you, or anyone else, know a website that lists the SF movies made during the 1990s, along with a brief synopsis?

Cheers to all! I have to check out the rest of this place now.

I don't know why but 12 Monkeys keeps coming to my mind - though I don't think that's it.

It isn't 12 monkeys, that was a virus not radiation.
