Re: Alphabetical SFF

Compound words: Firefly (seems relatively popular, though I've never seen it) firestone, firestarter, flying carpet, horse, saucer. fellowships

Seem to have been beaten to that firefly, but assume I meant Piers Anthony's

Re: Alphabetical SFF

I don't know if I'll actually be able to reply with any additionall alphabetical SFF elements ...I'm sulking. But, this is like a compendium, not a competition, right?

So I can no longer play the Faramir or Fangorn card, but I can say that we've forgotton Denethor and Eowyn and Eorl, the first king of Rohan. Fangorn is also a Fantasy artist. And, Kye, I'm sorry but Pratchett uses Igors as servents for the undead.
Ohhh, don't know if this counts, but I'm playing Flatliners anyway

Fantastical Creatures F:

Formian,
A Formian resembles a cross between an ant and a centaur. All Formians are covered in a brownish-red carapace, size and appearence varieys for each variety.
They seek to colonize all that they see and incorperate them into thier hive as workers.

Frost Worm,
This long, blue-white creature has huge mandibles and a strange nodule atop its head from which it generates a trilling sound.
Terror of the frozen lands the Frost Worm spends most of its life burrowing through the ice, snow and frozen earth, it surfaces only to attack its prey.

Fungus,
Unlike ordinary fungus, which are harmless to other living creatures, the Shrieker and Violet Fungus can be dangerous to the unwary adventurer.
A fungus lacks chlorophyll, a true stem, roots or leaves. Incapable of photosynthasis, it exists as a parasite, breaking down organic matter from thier prey slowly.

For me, it seems more like a Rorshach test: the first names that come to mind indicate things about the poster's personality. This is, of course, assuming that no one is looking names up.

Go-Backs (Elfquest, which I think got skipped in E.)
Gormenghast
Kathleen Goonan
James Alan Gardner
William Gibson

Special request: may we please linger a little longer over each letter? No rush, right?
