Thumbs up Aeon Flux Review

Aeon Flux

Directed by Karyn Kusama
Written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi
Genre Adventure, Sci-Fi
Cast: Charlize Theron, Marton Csokas, Sophie Okonedo, Jonny Lee Miller and others.

The movie Aeon Flux is set in the future. The whole earth is one big mass of forest and only one city is protected from the evil greenness: Bregna. The lead role is for Charlize Theron, she is Aeon Flux, an Assassin who works for the Monicans, a rebelous group that tries to overthrow the government. Her mission: kill the leader.

You can do the Maths… there is no chance that Aeon is going to just assassinate the leader Trevor Goodchild and move on. A true mystery is about to unravel where nothing is what it seems. She finds out all about the history of the human life on earth. And therefore about herself and her past as well. A fun game between good and evil evolves with the question what is actually the good side, and who is on it.

The story is of course rather cliché, but a movie like this isn’t about a great plot. Still the plot isn’t too standard. There’s enough shooting and fighting to entertain a certain group of visitors, and at the same time, there are a few twists that won’t disappoint the ‘story group’ too much. All in all, an entertaining movie where you can just watch without the need to focus hard and think.

Re: Aeon Flux Review

Is it even remotely like the TV show? Or did they do that thing where they develop an independent idea and then attach a well-known title to it for marketing reasons?

Not to say it isn't good - I've liked hosts of unfaithful adaptations.

Re: Aeon Flux Review

It's nowhere near as good or inventive as the TV show Polomorphikos if you're referring to the animation series?

Visually it looks good and some of the special effects I enjoyed but it hasn't really been well enough translated to the big screen for my liking.

3/5 stars.

I wasn't impressed either, but rather enjoyed it. It's not a movie that'll make it into my Top 100, but it's not a waste of time.

Re: Aeon Flux Review

Its the worst movie Ive seen this year, and certainly the worst rental ive ever made. Nothing like the cartoon, at all. The cartoon (Korean I think) had a very strange sense of humor about it that was consistent and very hard to repeat, thats what made it good. The art of the cartoon was also unique. Now granted I only saw the short clips that ran on liquid Television from the late 80s called Aeon Flux, but those I liked a lot.

The woman playing Aeon was atractive but she didnt convince me as an action hero shes seemed really awkward. And her movements were unconvincing. . For some reason Mila Jovanich (Resident Evil 1) did convince me as an action hero. Mila was also much hotter. The movie just seemed like a tomb raider or resident evil clone but wihtout a convincing female lead.
