I tried using the "scene and sequel" structure to outline my NaNo-novel, but I found it doesn't really fit well with the way I work, at least not at the first draft stage. I prefer to plan "scenes" in the scriptwriting sense (i.e. a series of events that happen in the same place and timeframe), and as one of the earlier posters mentioned, some of those scenes can include more than one plotline - in fact it would make the book rather simplistic if each scene stood alone.

I think it may come in more useful in revisions, though...

If you want to learn more about the method, see Jack Bickham's book "Scene and Structure" in the "Elements of Fiction Writing" series. I think it's out of print - at least, Amazon UK only sell it through Marketplace (mainly from the US) at the moment.
