| Re: Hail! Ave! Salut! Gruss Gott. etc. Hi Cyril! Sadly I'm only a wannabe polymath. Along the same lines, one of of my other sigs elsewhere is Renaissance Manc. That's probably nearer the mark. Is the Brunner book any good? |

| resident pedantissimo | Re: Hail! Ave! Salut! Gruss Gott. etc. I would have expected a polimath to be good a a wide range of mathematical specialities (I was quite good at multidimensional topology and number theory) Perhaps I'm a monomath- or considering it's audio I'm specialised in, a stereomath. Oh if you haven't already gathered, welcome here. |

Thanks for the welcome...(smilie) ...And I see you're living up to your pedantissimo strapline...(smilie) ...you're right of course, but when it came down to choosing A-levels (which loosely defines what you go on to study at university) I wanted to do Maths, further Maths, and Physics. Bizarrely, and for no real reason I can discern, my school would not allow me because I was no good whatsoever at Chemistry. I never understood that reasoning. I didn't want to do Chemistry. So I studied English Lit, Latin, French and General Studies instead. Oh well, Science's loss was Literature's gain. Actually, Literature didn't really gain, so it wasn't, was it? Come to think of it, it wasn't Science's loss either. Damn. (smilie) | |
