| Re: what music do you listen to? You need a "depends on what mood I'm in" option.
While I generally like heavy metal more than I like country, there are times when I'm in the mood for certain types of country music, and others - bluegrass - is all right with me just about any time.
Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that there is just music, and the genres are just aspects of the same thing. I mean, what I've been listening to the most the past couple of weeks - because I've just discovered it - sounds like country (a lot), but what it really is, is the beginning of country rock, or Cosmic American Music, and it's brilliant. And all a lot of contemporary country is, is pop/rock with a steel guitar (and sometimes not even that), depending on who it is playing. I was watching a documentary about Johnny Cash the other night and discovered that when he died, his MTV obituary called him "the first punk", which I think is probably just about right.
So, no offense intended, but I'm really not all that into the genre distiction thing right now. There is good stuff and lousy stuff in all genres, and all I'm interested in is finding the good stuff. |
