FrankenKnight {spoiler}

Just finished reading AFFC for a second time. Qyburn has created what I can only describe as a Frankenknight. There is no question in my mind he has created the creature from mostly the Mountians body and I keep banging my head agianst the wall trying to figure out how this creature will be used in the upcoming novels short of it eventually being used agianst the dragons I see no real purpose to him/it.

FrankenKnight ,that to funny.I agree though just how many people is Georgie gonna kill off just to bring back to life again,assuming that it really is gregor that is.As for possible uses I do believe that Sansa does need a giant to slay in a castle of snow.Yes i do not believe that the little ghost women that spoke with Arya would bother fortelling of her wrecking some stupid doll.I just hope that sandor is there to give her a hand (and then maybe some smoochy smoochy afterwards,oops I forgot, NO happy endings in Georgy's world !! )

Re: FrankenKnight {spoiler}

I read AFFC and never picked up on this FrankenMountain stuff. Just thought that Qyburn was a vivisectionist/torturer, not a medieval Dr. Frankenstein. You never really see his experiments except for his interrogations, right?

The reason I think this is that at some point in the book Qyburn has a champion for the queen that no man can defeat and armor made that is too heavy for a normal man to wear. Mind you it wouldnt be the first time I was wrong and mainly Im working on spec based on the little information given in AFFC, but it does seem like he has created something in the dungeon.

Re: FrankenKnight {spoiler}

Qyburn was stripped of his Maester's chain because he had a reputation for occult practices. I too believe that he has raised Gregor Clegane, although I gathered that it had more to do with some sort of magic, i.e. using the souls of those he took down to the dungeon for power or something like that. It seems to me that if he were to make a Frankenknight, he would use larger people for parts than midget priests and Lady Felyse.

Re: FrankenKnight {spoiler}

All to true AU. perhaps hes just exploring the possibilities of animating the dead with the others and Clegane is the end result. I really dont know if its either occult or science or combination of both. GRRM didnt put much information in AFFC of what he was exactly doing with the bodies.

Re: FrankenKnight {spoiler}

I think Qyburn has done transplants with the organs he got off Senelle, Falyse, the puppeteers and others to save Gregor somewhat from the poison. When Gregor was still normal, it was mentioned that he wore armour the average man couldn't bear and that he used a two handed greatsword with one hand, which makes the comment about the armour Qyburn wants suggestive of it being for an UnGregor. Also Cersei thought about some horrible thing screaming in the darkness when she visited the dungeons. In my copy of aFfC, the cast of characters at the back lists Qyburn as a necromancer. I think this all points to a FrankenKnight and it being Gregor.

Re: FrankenKnight {spoiler}

I am hoping Gregor doesn't reappear as a FrankenKnight. I want him to come back so that the Hound can have a reason to live again but I am tired of zombies in these books. I am leaning towards Gregor being kept alive by Qyburn rather than brought back to life. Its seems kind of pointless to make him undead since he was a freaking slow stupid heartless monster already.

Re: FrankenKnight {spoiler}

The use of FrankenGregor (if he even has a future use-maybe Cersei will choose him as his champion) could be the straw that breaks the camel's back for the Lannisters in King's Landing, especially with an armed Faith and Sparrows everywhere who would see this as blasphemy and going against the Gods' will, plan, whatever...

I'd feel happier believing that if GRRM weren't so tricksy...

Re: FrankenKnight {spoiler}

It's an interesting juxtaposition between the Hound and the Mountain:

- the Mountain as a demonic undead warrior
- the Hound as a born-again Holy warrior

With that symbolism flowing, in such situations it usually requires sacrifice of the "light" cause to defeat the "dark" - so if Sandor is actually going to kill Gregor, IMO the stage is already set for him to only succeed by sacrificing his own life to do so - such as while defending others.

No, a skull is in Dorne, i believe. We have no proof that it belongs to gregor, and i'd be shocked if it turned out that it really was his.
