Re: Cersei ? pregnant?

HI all,
re the comments that most women experience changes when they are pregnant - true. But a lot don't - my mother didn't know she was having one of my sisters until she was 5 months gone, and I have even known of a nurse who didn't know until she was 8 1/2 monts pregnant. Honestly, I only thought it happened in magazines.

Anyways, time will tell - and we probably not until after Dragons :-(

Regards,
Dyffeg (waving to Gollum in Melbourne)

Re: Cersei ? pregnant?

It seems that there are a number of specialists in herbalism in the Seven Kingdoms. The maesters know these secrets preventing pregnancies and aborting pregnancies. There are also a number of women who have this secret knowledge... I suspect it is an unmentioned and dark aspect, yet fully integral part of, the Westerosi culture.

The whole storyline involving the Tullys has to deal with this. As a teenager, Lyssa Tully, was impregnated by Petyr Baelish. Hoster Tully had a maester or an herb woman give Lyssa an herbal concoction that aborted her pregnancy.

Also the current crisis of Margaery's virginity deals with the preventative measures that she's supposedly taken to not get pregnant.

Re: Cersei ? pregnant?

Yossa... you are one sick puppy...I love it. I cna see Cersei throwing herself of the top of some tower and some servant girl holding this hideous child with two different colored eyes!

ABout the moon tea stuff. That is the only thing that make me think she is not pregnant. All women just go drink moon tea and...abracadabra.... no baby. Unless Cersei didn't want anyone to know she was skanking around or unless she did drink moon tea but someone gave her Lipton's... I do not know but it would be interesting.

The person I could not wait to see a reaction from is Jamie!!!!!!!!!! He may stand and watch as they tear her limb from limb!!!!!!!!

Great OP, and I thought Cersei had just eaten too many lemon cakes !

Re: Cersei ? pregnant?

Will the Faith bring Cersei to trial quickly? I would imagine that charging a queen and bringing in a guilty verdict is not something to be rushed. I understand Jaime's burning of the letter to mean that he will not be riding to Cersei's rescue. So if Cersei does not have a champion coming and the High Septon waits a few months before starting the trial, then do you think Cersei might be showing at the trial?

She'll have no one, like Pycelle or Qyburn, to bring her the necessary herbs in prison.

If the charges against Cersei are lewd conduct, simony, and a libido unbecoming of the Queen Mother, then how will Cersei deny the charges of sexual misconduct when she is pregnant?

Judge: How are you pregnant?
Cersei: I don't know.
Judge: (pointing to Kettleblack) Did you fornicate with that man?
Cersei: No.
Judge: How many men have you seduced since your husband died?
Cersei: None. I cherish my lord's memory.
Judge: Then how is that you are with child?
Cersei: Immaculate conception? Yes, that's it. This must be the Prince that was promised. Oh, the Seven be praised!

Re: Cersei ? pregnant?

Besides the matter of Maggy the Frog prophecy, Cersei if pregnant would have know, she has carried 3 babes to term and Abortisized Roberts.

Even if she had gotten pregnant wich i am sure is not the case, the babe would have been killed as well. Cersei would never have kept it, also AffC we got PoV to all of her delight of Cersei and i am sure she would have mentioned it, if this was the case, i mean cersei aint some foolish 15year old who doesn't know tit for tat. She would know almost immediately. She is obly getting fat from her excesses. (Also note that she is getting older and older, her metabolisms is slowing down.

lolz, brilliant

I was more thinking of:
-anyone claims to be the father of the child?
-Three people stand up and look awkward at each other.

no the speculation is a good one, yet it remains a speculation.

Re: Cersei ? pregnant?

Well parfait is a type of dessert, right?

I wonder if a pregnancy of any kind may actually be a 'stay of execution' as it were for Cersei.

Not sure on the medieval code of conduct in these cases, but if I remember rightly, the waited till after the babe was born before lopping the head off the woman. The child (sadly depending on the parentage) would usually be fostered off or raised as a ward of the court I think. If it was the child (male especially) of the king you'd just usurped however, a slight 'accident' might befall them...

Re: Cersei ? pregnant?

Welcome aboard, Dyffeg, good to see another Brisbanite populated the Martin boards!

I thought there was mention of illness in Cersei's chapters in AFfC. Though I could be worng - it has happened before, believe it or not. I do remember thinking she might be pregnant while I was reading it. Would be interesting, now she's locked up. I can't, however, see her erstwhile lovers putting their hands up and admitting their parts in the affair, somehow...

Re: Cersei ? pregnant?

I think we discussed this before but my google-fu is weak and I couldnt find the thread. Regardless I dont care...lets talk about it some more...if it were up to me Id rehash the Rhaegar/Lyanna love affair thing...

The only alternate explanation we came up with was her increased drinking was leading to an expanding waistline and occasional illness. That being said, Im firmly in the camp of it being a pregnancy and will completely thwart whatever defense she's going to muster.

Hey, herein lies a scenario where Jaime could be Cerseis champion. Lets suppose the Church discovers her pregnancy. They hold off on the trial to avoid killing the two at the same time. The child comes out blonde, the church throws some accusations Jaimes way....or Cersei just straight says its Jaimes (shes been getting crazier and crazier lately this latest could just unhinge her.) One of those "we came into this world at the same time, lets go out together" kinda things. Jaime ends up in the "arena", sword in hand-defending himself and Cersei at the same time. I could see that....how that fits the while valonqar thing I do not know.
