Origins of Femke I'm aware that the Darkweaver Trilogy precedes events in Imperial Spy. However, how much of a role does Femke have in them? Additionally, how much of Femke's prior life and development do we have? Her past history is covered a lot - does this mean a number of the incidents she mentions are covered in them?

Re: Origins of Femke Femke is a minor character in the Darkweaver Legacy - she pops up near the end of the tale. We don't know a whole lot about her past - but it does seem that Mark is revealing bits and pieces as he goes along (mustn't spoil it, mustn't spoil it ) in this latest series. I find her very interesting and am definitely interested in her origins and how she came to be the person she is, doing what she does.I'm guessing that she originally was to be only that bit character we saw in Darkweaver, but just as his readers did, Mark found that she was an interesting character and wanted to explore her story more, and that would be where the Imperial series comes along. While I enjoyed Darkweaver a lot (especially the insights into military training and thinking), I see how the author's storytelling is beginning to take on it's own life and is carrying him along with it. From what I understand (and what I've seen so far of this one), this makes for the best stories. I suppose you wanted Mark to answer these? Ah well, had to throw my two cents' worth in...

Re: Origins of Femke I think the IMperial Spy does fill in some history on Femke, she didnt play a big part in the previous series and was pretty much left an unknown quantity. Ive enjoyed finding out about this character and feel she's turned out to be a good strong character for the new series.

Re: Origins of Femke I was half-wondering if the disappearance of her mentor appeared in the earlier books. Is that not the case? Does that mean it's a mystery to be explored after Imperial Assassin? ![]()

Re: Origins of Femke I think for me to enter the speculation might blow the storyline here, so perhaps I should allow you to debate the possibilities. Who knows, it might even give me ideas I hadn't thought of. Femke's background certainly does shape her as a person, and I am deliberately only releasing it in dribs and drabs. Her driving motivation is all tied up in her background, so I don't want to give too much away.

Re: Origins of Femke I think it would be cool if she were somehow related to someone back in Darkweaver so new family interactions can be explored. And, if she were related to a specific someone, she could have inner talents that she wasn't aware of! Oooh, that would be fun!

Re: Origins of Femke I get the feeling she's a daughter of outcast nobility. As in a family who was important, but then has fate twist on them, and falls out of wealth and reputation. Though that's a bit cliche. Or maybe just cheesy. And it hardly fits how much info we've got so far.
