| Re: Stories we would like to see... Heart of Time
The TARDIS in a pitch black universe, the last star in the galaxy thinking dimmer and dimmer, the Dr has the doors wide open sitting with his feet dangling over the edge of the familiar blue box, as the star fades to nothing the only light left in the infinite darkens is a tiny blue light flickering on the top of the TARDIS.
Switch to Rygor 4, privative jungle world, the Dr and assistant rushing through the undergrowth, the assistant laughing and joking with a privative male who is rerunning with them recounting how amazing it was for him to rescue them from the Frengar slave pens. Spears rush past the trio as they head for the protective blue box, the primitive turning and catching a spear headed for the assistant to throw it back with deadly accuracy... they reach the door and the Dr smile fades but doesn't look back, not looking back, the door swings open and the primitive is not with them, the assistant looks back in shock as they where just joking with the primitive just to see them kneeling down swaying slightly looking at a horde or rampaging Frengar Guards... the assistant screams at the doctor to save the man but he just bundles them into the TARDIS and shuts the door – explaining that the man was already dead from a poison dart and he was making a last sacrifice to enable them to escape for safety.
At the bedside of an extremely old man, the Dr gently sitting on the bed, holding the old dears hand, swapping long ago stories of glory and adventures – the assistant in the background clearly upset, crying at seeing the man's candle run out. As the man passes the Dr only takes the smallest of moments then seems to perk up again confusing the assistant, again bundling them into the TARDIS
World War II and the assistant is giving a little girl a lolly pop while the Dr seems impatient to go, the assistant argues with the Dr about taking the little girl with them as she seems to have lost her family in the War but the Dr stubbornly refuses and points out an air raid designated area and explains the girl will find what she needs in there. The assistant reluctantly takes the little girl to the Wardens at the air shelter and hads her off to a confused looking guard. As the assistant reaches the TARDIS we see the Dr look up and his head descends clearly looking at something, the assistant looks around straight into the childs face just as a bomb destroys that entire area.
The assistant is calling the Dr an uncaring monster for these past three actions – time and again all she witnesses is Death with him there, asking how how he could be so cruel.
The Dr then looks at the assistant with infinite compassion ans says he'll show them.
Rygor 4 – the Dr hides behind a tree, as there's a crashing in the trees, he nimbly sticks his foot out and a creature like a small raptor falls over, the Dr Moves out of the way fast and we see a boy of thirteen or 14 making his kill that marks his passage to manhood. The assistant asks what's going on – and as we all guessed we find this boy is the same boy who as a man will help them escape years in the future, explaining that the man is always alive to the Dr – yes he knew he was going to Die at that point but all people Die and for him THAT death was a good death, nobles and all he could have hoped for.
We see a dashing young man in a Tux running through the grounds of a country estate with some documents in his hands, there's sirens and guards blazing – gun fire blazing but all the time two men run across the field to freedom laughing, one being the Dr himself – this being observed by the Dr and the assistant – the dr explains that this is where his friend always lives for him so how could he be upset at the so called death, when all he has to do to see his friend is pop back in time any time he chose?
On to the little girl – this time we don't have a time period shot there just in the TARDIS travelling, explaining that the threads of the Girls life would one day lead her to making a plague that would eradicate half of the universe, and it was a choice let one innocent die or trillion trillion others.
The assistant is torn still with emotion and now the Dr looks at them and explains he's going to give the assistant a gift – but only if they want it – he explains that once they have had this gift nothing will ever be the same again – that the assistant will change and never been the same again.
The assistant nods and the Dr flings open the doors of the TARDIS – blackness. Total and utter blackness.
The assistant looks confused, but the Dr just beacons them to sit next to him in the door way the assistant looks like they want to talk but the Dr simply puts a finger to his lips and points into the void a smile creeping on his face.
In the darkness a light starts to become evident becoming brighter and brighter until its all encompassing, and were greeted with a universe of stars, swirling colourful galaxies, and for an instant – just an instant the assistant could swear they see a smile in the stars.
As they turn to the Dr he is radiantly beaming a smile as says “Welcome to the beginning” |
