Re: Desperation mini series

I have just seen this tonight and enjoyed it through and through, even though (or perhaps because?) I have not read the book. The sheriff was especially great. There were a lot of religious undertones, but they did not bother me at all, though they seem to have irked a lot of others.

I noticed several similarities between this story and It and The Stand, e.g. two huge forces battling it out using people to do their work, going back to the place of origin to finish the evil entity off (the Derry sewers vs the mine in Desperation), one of the two siblings killed by the evil entity (Georgie in It, the little girl here), and so on. The main antagonist's (first the cop, then the mother) seemingly unintelligible babbling reminded me of Black House, where the villiain did something similar ("Abalah Gorg!").

All in all, a good movie to be seen by fans of horror and Stephen King.
