This has got to be the most entertaining Historical Fiction novel I've read in a long, long, time. I'd definately recommend it to anyone looking to read an epic tale that takes place during medieval European times.

But be forewarned, Tim Willocks has totally outdone himself with the descriptive gore-fest that are his battle scenes. They're definately not for the weak of stomach.

Gore-feast is never a minus IMO specially in a HF about those dark and brutal days.

I have heard great things about this book but forgot save the name in my to buy list. Thanks for the reminder.

One thing how is the religion talk? Im not too fond of stories that are too one sided when its about religion and specially those days of east vs west.

It shouldnt be a problem right, its about a mercenary.
