I also just finished GOTM. The climax and end was WOW, pretty good. I got the second book but because it took me quite a while to get through GOTM, I will take a small Erikson break and read a couple of other quick reads before taking it on.

I have to say that may favourite characters so far are: Rake, Paran, Kalam, Quick Ben and Kruppe. I also thought the portrail of Coll, Crockus and Whiskeyjack to be very good.

Bloodnguts: I don't think you can generalize and say that fans of this author need to put down other series. I am first and foremost a fanatic of GRRM's ASoIF series as well as Erickson and unless the series is Jordan or especially Goodkind, I see no need to put down other series. Intriguing name for someone that is not very thick skinned
