Re: Name for my book So you haven't started writing it yet? I find generally the title will come once you've gotten into the work. Though a lot of time mine don't even come then. I have a lot of files that are called something like 'Untitled Western-Fantasy Idea'.... But, yeah, it's not essential to have a title before you start.

Re: Name for my book i still dont have a title for my main work right now. in fact, i hardly have names for everything. like culhwch, i have stacks of ideas labeled "like pinkerton by weezer" and "instrumental evil 7 of 10", all of which yet to have developed. as far as planning, i would be a poor example, so i cant give any tips.

| Re: Name for my book i've been working on my main project for a couple of years and it STILL doesn't have a title! none of my projects do, i just label them with descriptions or main characters names. as far as planning, if this is your first go at writing a book i would suggest picking up one of the many writing books that are on the market. i think they can really help when you're starting out and trying to find your feet. here's a link to heaps of books recommended by Writers Digest. | Re: Name for my book I always have titles when I write a story (whatever its size) because I think it's one of the most important element of writing material. It help me in the writing process. The title will first catch a potential reader. I think a good one must have an attractive rythm ; it must sound nice when heard ; I feel it if it don't bother me when pronounced aloud. And on another side it must sufficiently summarize the storyline to awake interest and not enough to avoid desastrous spoilers. |

Re: Name for my book i usually get a title first. it defines the story/novel as for planning. i only plan when i know what its about, and only then vaguely. i like to keep it loose for when things don't work. but basically i just started writing and see where it goes. fit a plan together as ideas come to me, then loose what isn't working which is what i am doing now with book 3. just had to delete a tonne of stuff for being wrong, not sure what i hav enow is anymore right, but as the plan was loose i was able to test things out without screwing up the entire novel by being stuck with one thing over another ![]()

Re: Name for my book first of all from your picture you seem quite young to be writing a book so i am really impressed. a very good name for your book would be HARRY POTTER, with a name like that ou should be able to sell tens of thousands of copies if not millions.

Re: Name for my book I like the craft to , it depends on the public you're aming on ( put that gun down, it was a figure of speech )it's a though one, I keep calling my book " the chronicles" , I could change the title entirely simply by adding " of ..." ( like Narnia, Riddick...) I'd go for "the craft" , but maybe you should do some research on works with the same titles ( both art and the craft) if one of them has a massive staus among your readers, you might want to change titles ( depends on what youu're aming at... GUN DOWN!)
