Wilson Pickett For those old enough to remember, Wilson Picket, the soul legend behind such classics as Mustang Sally and In The Midnight Hours, has died at the age of 64. Picket, whose hard living and fiery stage presence earned him the nickname "Wicked Pickett" was considered a soul and R * B star on a par with greats such as Otis Redding, Same Cooke and James Brown. He went solo in 1965, and enjoyed success with more that 30 R & B hits. In February 2003, he played at the Perth's Moonlight Music and Wine Festival.

Re: Wilson Pickett I love Wilson Pickett, even though I am not old enough to have "been there" when he first started (I'm 25). "Mustang Sally" and "In the Midnight Hour" are songs that every bar band must have in its repertoire, and I actually prefer his cover of "Hey Jude" (featuring then unknown Duane Allman on guitar) to the original Beatles version.

Re: Wilson Pickett i really respected his music, as im only a fair pup, i was not around when he was bringing out most of his songs but that is my favourite type of music alongside rock and roll. but for how much i like his music i prefer the commitments versions of mustang sally and in the midnight hour, i like andrew strongs voice. a real shame he died.

Re: Wilson Pickett It is a great loss to the industry. Losing such a talented musician is saddening but what upsets me more is that we may never have a man like him in the music industry again, considering modern 'music' that is a very disheartening...
