As regards cushions, if you put a book on my sister's window ledge overnight, it absorbs the condensation, swells up to three times its previous thickness and becomes all soft and spongy. (experimental proof on my copy of "1632")

And what am I donating? The entire series of Roberson shapechanger books, Piers Anthonies "Bio of a space tyrant", the Rivan Codex and - a reader's disgust "Laughter is the best medicine" hardcover omnibus edition (christmas present) even if it is right now a structural component in my bed.
