Re: Dragon riders

I read Eragon before I saw the Movie, noted all the hype about the 17 year old kid making a novel blah blah blah, reading it I was also noting this idea, that concept, this plot gimmick all in a book attempting to be described as a new different idea. I agree that there is ALWAYS room for dragon stories on the big screen. I think that Moviegoers are a lot more tolerant about arriving in the middle of a story, they ARE conditioned to expect some back story to where they came in since NOBODY expects a back screen with a blinding flash and rapid motion of the universe forming , or start with a black screen and an allpowerful voice pronouncing "let there be light" Some of Anne's charm is that every story I've read HAS started somewhere in the middle.

OK, you guys have talked about how integral parts of the story would push the ratings to the more mature end of the spectrum... at which point a number of watchers might not go see it. personal feeling is too bad for them. the major plot concepts that NEED to be in there to make DRoP unique is reflected in the extents of the bond between dragon and rider. Impression. this needs to be there. shows how the bond is formed, and how life changes. Dragonflight impressions were fairly gory, this will pop to pg-13 easy. now mating flights. green and gold, depending on how they are directed and portrayed, this could keep the -13 rating, or could push it straight to x. the other facet of the bond is when it is severed. talking up Lytol if they do dragonflight, to show the effect on a human. and C'gan's death and his dragon later. you guys might be right though dragonflight has only a ferw heavy action parts to it. they might be able to stretch it to a couple hours. but likely someone will write more into it. or they might try to push the first triogy into a single movie. (hopefully not, too much compression and people would be lost in time skipping a decade at a time)
