Lisey's Story certainly is a good book (but hell, I'm going to say that really, aren't I?) It's slower moving than the others, it wasn't until after the first fifty pages or so that I warmed to it completely, but after that I loved it. It's unlike the other King books, I think. The supernatural element to it isn't the main plot of the story, as such (although it's still eerie -- and there's also the added bonus of a human-made horror, and he really is evil  ) The focus is more on Lisey's coping in the wake of her husband's death and reflection on their life together. And also the darker side to their marriage, that Lisey is having to face in the present day, and by herself. It's very emotional, with lots of back tracking, even going over some events more than once. I think you should go for it, it's a good read. |
Oh wow, so it does have a supernatural element to it? I thought it was a straight up story about a widow coping with her husband's death.
I'm very interested. As soon as I finished A Storm of Swords (which will be a bit as I haven't finished A Clash of Kings yet) I'll check it out.
