A small summation:
I just finished the first book. I generally find audio books if I can but the recommendations of this were outstanding so I tried it. I did really like it but I wasn't really into it until page 300 or so like some have stated. The first part is clunkily written. He is so busy inventing nouns that it is distracting. Forgetting all of them didn't hurt the rest of the book for me.
I'm not sure why fans of this author need to put down other series. I'm not that thick skinned and when people feel the need to berate things you enjoy it doesn't put you on their side or make you want to share opinions with them.
My subjective rating is better than the first couple series of Feist books, maybe below a few other epics but not many. I've just finished the one book so my ratings are subject to revision. |
