Confused...

SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST BOOK

So i picked up the gardens of the moon and im on page 80...i have to say that the book is amazing so far, however i am slightly confused on a few matters:
1)what is moons spawn? it moves but i thought it was a building??

2)what/who is the lord of moon spawn

3)and what the hell has happened between page 50-80? does Tattersail have a flash back? and then it resumes at page 80? because exactly the same thing happens at page 80 as it did on 50 really confused about this part

Re: Confused...

Moon spawn is like a moon that Anomander Rake siezed as his "castle" for lack of a better word, at least I think this to be the case. He is able to control its movement therefore it must have been made by some ancient being(s) of power.

Anomander Rake is a Tiste Andii, one of the Children of Darkness. More then that he is the son of Mother Dark and the Lord of the Tiste Andii the Children of Darkness. I really do believe its his sword Dragonpur that makes him the leader of the Tiste Andii, none of the others can stand against him and his sword. Dragonpur claims souls when he kills with it, these souls go into the sword, trapped for eternity or so he believes....I will say no more on that!

As for question #3 I won't provide an answer to this, instead you need to read the rest of the story then the answer should become clear.

One thing to realize in this story, is that just because someone has the title Lord of the Children of Darkness does not really mean he is evil, though he could be seen as evil depending on your point of view.

That is what I absolutely love about this epic story, no one in it is exactly what they seem to be or even what they should be, which in turn makes each new chapter a discovery unto itself.

This story is NOT for the fient of heart, Erikson describes in brutal detail the atrocities of war. At times the story is so graphic in that regard I have felt sickened, but none the less it is probably the most interesting story I have ever read.

Re: Confused...

Moon Spawn? how to describe it? It can be landed...although it does spend most of the time in the air.Tiste Andii can also take the form of dragons so they can fly in and out.Anomander Rake is the leader of the Tiste Andii they follow him for who he is,also some of the Tiste Andii believe they should ignore humans. No one would enter Moon Spawn unless invited to do so by Rake.Sorry if I'm slightly vague in replies but I'm having to remember what I learned in GOTM and what was picked up from MOI

Re: Confused...

Yeah, just keep reading

Moons' Spawn is big, black, made of rock and darn heavy...
Dagnipur has to be darn heavy, too.
And Tattersail is no lightweight

Take your time though.
And lets hope you can avoid spoiling things for yourself too much by asking questions here !

(I've had such a laugh today with Bugg...)

Re: Confused...

At the beginning of Midnight Tides it describes them as "The Great Sky Keeps" so at one time there had to be more then just Moonspawn. While this may seem a spoiler its not really that hard to leap to the conclusion that there had to be more of them.
