| Re: River of Gods, January Discussion Just joined in. Surprised to see no comments on this book. Whether you liked Mcdonald's previous work or not, this is a story of near-genius. And while you have to take it on my word, I don't say that easily. Not only is this a literary success, it is a complete rendering of a believable future. The whole tapestry of the future Indian society is on view, from the slum dweller to the board-room big-wig. It is an ambitious book. Its scope is reminiscent of a work by Tolstoy or Balzac. Now I'm not saying McDonald is a Tolstoy or a Balzac, but this book is leagues above run-of-the-mill science fiction. |
