| Re: Sunshine by Danny Boyle The one thing that Danny Boyle did very well in this movie was to remind me of the awesome titan that is the sun. We lose track of the base reality of our situation here on Earth; we are rightly involved in our subjective personal lives, with the necessities that make that life better, and with the inertia of our cultural ties. Danny points out that there are forces in our midst, that through familiarity, we may not acknowledge with due deference. Although the sun is one among an almost infinite number of stars, it is, in any objective reality, power beyond human intuition. That stark portrayal was what made the movie worth seeing for me. |
