It may have genuinely started out that way. People adapt, even if they don't evolve, and change things to suit their needs for the given moment. Sometimes adaptation can be a shame.

I have no doubts about that. Religion plays its part in this, too. Of course, can't blame everything on religion, no matter how simple it would be to do.

And you. Well stated. Too much ignorance, and even too much knowledge, I believe, can be detrimental. perhaps that is another reason God would keep people in the dark concerning some matters?
