Ignoring it and enjoying the rest of the movie sure sounds more postive than letting it ruin the movie and complain to no end. A sub-text to Phantom Menace is symbiotic relationships working together for a common goal. I think this is just another attempt to bring the story together and add a little more dimension or perhaps mystery to the force. Everything else about the force is rather vague, too, on purpose I think, it appeals to more people that way. If you can't get past this, then make something up, like, the force would exist with or without these midi-chlorians and if there is intelligence behind the force it put these things in individuals to help them. After all they never said they were sentient and everyone has microscopic critters in and on them all their lives. Or maybe you can just continue to ignore it. As for proving the existence of God through science, yes there is proof, just look at the creation itself. I will not go into the big bang, where it came from, or what an incredible universe it produced for us because I find if one does not want to believe, no proof at all would suffice.
