LOTR the Musical

Well folks just when you thought it couldn't get any "better", a stage musical of LOTR is now heading to Toronto before wending it's way to London and eventually it is hoped good old Braodway....

Actually reading the article it doesn't sound as painful as one may think, still the proof will be in the puddin' as my old gaffer would say...

Re: LOTR the Musical

I've known about this for some time (I used to spend as many hours on various Tolkien sites as I now spend here), and there have articles much like that one that appear online every few months or so, but I see they are still doling out the information in very unsatisfying small portions.

Makes me feel a bit like Oliver Twist holding out his little wooden bowl and begging for another dollop of thin gruel.

The whole idea of this play intrigues me. Most of the little I've read inspires a certain amount of (very guarded) optimism. But the fact that it's getting so close to the time it will open and they're still being so close-mouthed is a little worrisome. If the people involved were really excited about the way it's shaping up, you'd think they would have some things they wanted to show off.

Or maybe they're all of them just very discreet, or they have all signed contracts full of dire penalties for those who leak any information.

This seems as good a place as any to mention that today is Tolkien's birthday -- at least, it's still his birthday here in the States. Those of you in Australia and New Zealand will have missed it by now.

He would have been eleventy-four years old.
