Interesting. I've always found that film to be an emotional marathon for people... it isn't just the horrific effects, but the sheer hell the characters go through. Let's face it, once things get rolling, there is
no happy there at all, and even Stathis Borans becomes one you can sympathize with, and has horrible things done to him as a result of his "better nature". It's an emotionally complex film, which is one of the reasons I still find it well worthwhile.... Never saw the sequel to the remake, though, nor (especially once I heard from several people) did I have any great desire to....
Incidentally, the director of that one (
The Fly II) was Chris Walas, whose other directing credits are (as listed by IMDB): an episode of
Tales from the Crypt, "'Til Death" (1990) and a film called
The Vagrant (1992).
"Tales from the Crypt" 'Til Death (1990) The Vagrant (1992)
-- should anyone want more information.... There was, of course, an earlier version of
The Fly, along with a sequel,
Son of the Fly... and for those interested, the screenplay of the original was by James Clavell....
The Fly (1958) Return of the Fly (1959)
The first was quite good, really, while the sequel... well, it was watchable......
