I actually read Salem's Lot just after reading Dracula for the first time, by chance. In the intro to the edition I had King wrote that Salem's Lot plays upon a lot of the themes in Dracula (eg the power of modern technology over primeval terrors like Dracula), often subverting them - it was kind of enjoyable to find the links between the two. I recommend reading one with the other in mind. |
