| Re: 27.06: Dalek I didn't think this episode was that great on first viewing. I wasn't keen on the whole Dalek deveolping emotions thing. However on repeated viewings I started appreciating things I missed the first time around.
First, the Dalek becoming more Human was accompanied by the Doctor becoming more like a Dalek. In the end they were pretty alike.
Also, they did a great job of updating the Dalek. It really did seem unstoppable, its just a shame that their appearence in the later episodes were much less frightening. A similiar thing happened with the Borg in Star Trek.
Then theres the subtle moments, like The Doctor feeling his age after seeing a Cybermans head put on display in a museum.
Then finally, theres the character of Van Statten. He's brilliantly smarmy. I especially like the grin on his face after The Doctor compares him Davros. |
