Yeah...forgive me if that's not exactly how it worked, but I think that's how I read it.
That is pretty much it. Along with Pteptic's account. Brilliant!

I just finished reading it for the second time. The first time you just gotta read through to the end!

My thoughts **** SPOILERS BELOW******

I was happily surprised in a fashion about the Deathly Hallows. I was afraid Harry was going to command the cloak and stone during the final battle and somehow grab Voldemort's wand and, seeing as he would have "possession" of all three hallows, he would not die but Voldy would. Glad that did not happen.

I was satisfied with the hokey veil of death scene with Harry and Albus simply because in re-reading the book Harry grows so much in the last 1/3 and to willingly sacrifice himself, as his mother did, was a fitting heroic deed.
I thought, in both readings, my favorite part is the final battle with

Voldemorte. Harry had assumed status everyone had thrust upon him and he never looked away from Voldemorte. Calling him Tom Riddle brought goosepimples and still does as I type.

My favorite Harry section of the book was when he announced he was going to speak to Ollivander and Gripnuck at Bill and Fleur's. That was when he began to fully assert himself, which I have been waiting for since book 3 at least.

I had believed Snape had chosen to switch sides because Voldy had promised Lily to him and then killed her en route to Harry. I hate to say it but I was actually hoping Snape just turned out to be a bad egg, however Dumbledre was shown to have enough faults. And with that...

My final thought. I can not say I was shocked by the many "flaws" in Albus' character brought to light in HPatDH. There had been some foreshadowing of this in book 6. I actually liked the idea that even as great as Albus was, Harry had more promise, not only because of his struggles, but because he had learned to face each of his struggles head on.

I lied, one last last thought. My biggest frustration is that we do not know what Harry had become?????? Teacher, auror, Gringotts security guard????

Anyway, next up is to re-read the series 1-7!

Good night
