| Sky Seeds On Uuly fifth I started converting my unfinished screenplay for SKY SEEDS into a novel, my first science fiction work. It's the first of a four-book series, staring in present time and continuing through the lifetime of the character we first meet in his early teens.
One early confidant called it "Harry Potter Goes To Hyperspace" but I'd see it as playing with alternate (read: crackpot) anthro theories and appealing to younger audiences inititally, including those who like Kevin Smith and other such doperdramas. It's also a family drama, to an extent, not unlike the rise to power in Godfather or Scarface.
It's got "strong language", sex, and brutal violence (not of the "mowing down rows of clones with lasers" kind, but the "stench that hits you when your knife hits the guts" type. I'm hoping this isn't a drawback with the SF readership (betting heavily on it, actually) but and wondering if I know what that readership is like anymore.
I put up a scene for critiques (in the Critiques section, of all places) and would appreciate any commentary on the writing, and perhaps specifically on some of the cultural items and artifacts depicted. Such as dealing drugs and saying "****".
Thanks for your attention
