"pit" would normally indicate a grounside installation (unless you decide to buid starships as big as mine) "Rim" has been used in so many different situations, so many times that I don't see it as associated with SW at all.
Hundreds of Starwars terms are taken directly from wet navy or military usage.
Once you know what your ship looks like, some of the names of the bits will be obvious; whether it's a bridge, a cockpit, a control tower or just a console tacked onto the navigation room; as long as you know how it works, the feel of it will carry across.
