If you do read any Star Wars books, pick up "Heir to the Empire" "Dark Force Rising" and "The Last Command" by Timothy Zahn.

I'm sure 99.9 percent of all Star Wars fans will agree that this is the best. In fact, it's better than the novelizations of any of the movies I've read.
