ONE MORE ARROW Music by Elton John Lyrics by Bernie Taupin Available on the album Too Low For Zero ![]() He said I want to grow up And look like Robert Mitchum And I hope that when I'm gone There'll be some say that I miss him He must have been romantic He must have sensed adventure And I feel the steel of his strong will In the frame around his picture And he's one more arrow flying through the air One more arrow landing in a shady spot somewhere Where the days and nights blend into one And he can always feel the sun Through the soft brown earth that holds him Forever always young He could have been a boxer But the fight game seemed so dirty We argued once he knocked me down And he cried when he thought he'd hurt me Strictly from the old school He was quiet about his pain And if one in ten could be that brave I would never hate again One more arrow One more arrow One more arrow Forever always young

Well... I don't know about the "EVER" part, but I CAN give you the names of some lyrics I really like, and have thought: "Wish I wrote that". ![]() Sixpence none the richer: Melodies of you Project 86: Your heroes are dead Stavesacre: Sand dollar Hmmm... That'll do for now. I'll write again if I come up with some others... ![]()

I don't actually listen to the lyrics much in songs - when I hear singing I hear melody and tune, rather than grammar and semantics. However, there are some songs where the words - or, at least the delivery of those words - really grips me. One is Talk Talk's "I believe in you" - something about the delivery of the first verse is emotionally haunting: Hear it in my spirit I've seen heroin for myself On the street so young laying wasted Enough ain't it enough Crippled world I just can't bring myself to see it starting Another song I just love the lyrics to is Leonard Cohen's "Suzanne". It's simply a beautiful and evocative song. ![]()

Of course, but it wasn't that kind of argument... We were just discussing the thing... ![]() For me, very rarely a whole piece of lyrics really touch me. So few writers have the ability to write such a grand piece of lyrics. But lines in-between can really reach out and stir me up... I love it when they do...

The Best Lyrics Ever The BEST lyrics of "ALL-TIME" are by John Denver RHYMES & REASONS So you speak to me of sadness and the coming of the winter the fear that is within you now, it seems to never end and the dreams that have escaped you, and the hope that you've forgotten you tell me that you need me now, you want to be my friend and you wonder where we're going where's the RHYME and where's the REASON and it's you who cannot accept it is "HERE" we must begin,,,,,,,,,, TO SEEK the WISDOM of the CHILDREN and the GRACEFUL Way of FLOWERS in the WIND for the children and the flowers are my sisters and my brothers their laughter and their loveliness could clear a cloudy day like the music of the mountains and the colors of the rainbow they're a promise of the future and a blessing for today Though the cities start to crumble and the towers fall around us the sun is slowly fading and it's colder than the sea IT IS WRITTEN from the desert to the mountains they shall lead us by the hand and by the heart, they will comfort you and me in their innocence and trusting they will teach us to be free For the children and the flowers are my sisters and my brothers their laughter and their loveliness could clear a cloudy day and the song that I am singing is a prayer to nonbelievers come and stand beside us, we can find a better way,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I don't know if these are the best lyirics of all time, or even the best lyrics I've ever heard, but for some years now I've been going back to this song and finding so much in it I can relate to. Underground - The Tea Party I don't need your redemption I don't want you to deceive me And I don't need your forgiveness I only want you to believe me Do you see me here I'm standing naked Do you see me here on my knees Now all my life I've been wandering Looking for teachers with the keys Nothing found still searching for sound Underground... Now let me tell you about a story It's about a man consumed with vice He's theosophical in nature And hedonistic in disguise And all my life I've been wandering Searching for teachers with the keys Nothing found still searching for sound Underground...

Teacher With the Keys Hey "knivesout" pretty good lyrics also I think they would speak to many millions of people wandering "NAKED" in an UNTAMED Wilderness WORLD searching for the "GOLD NUGGETS of LOVE" & the Teachers that LIVE it ,as well as PREACH it! But "LOVE" (like GOLD) is snatched away by GREEDY Men intoxicated with power & bent on "CONTROL"! VIOLENCE is better to keep the masses confused & fearful . John Denver was looked at "musically" as INSIGNIFICANT & "Square" & generally disrespected by even his own Music Label. And by his own ADMISSION his personal life had several shadows . But he always tried to "CARE" about the "average joe" ,3rd world countries, a better world , doing all that he could (for one person) to recognize (ala; STAR TREK),the "NEEDS of the MANY, OUTWEIGH the NEEDS of the FEW." It's taken me a half Century to understand ,all that I do know. Experience & a willingness to be OBJECTIVE & see the "OTHER POINT of VIEW" has "OPENED my EYES" and you get to a point where it's awful hard to have the WOOL PULLED OVER THEM. Then slowly your "NAKEDNESS" is covered by the RECOGNITION that (metaphorically speaking) the WORLD is "clothed in a certain conforming style". Some folks think that the only other CHOICE is nakedness. When their has always been a 3rd choice. DRESS the way that describes who you are & all that you're searching for (albeit not to harm or disrespect your brother). _ edited by Ami (sorry hun it just wasn't readable try and use one comma not 4 each time) Last edited by Amidala; 13th November 2003 at 03:23 PM.

Dark Waltz - hayley westenra We are the lucky ones We shine like a thousand suns When all of the colour runs together I'll keep you company In one glorious harmony Waltzing with destiny forever Dance me into the night Underneath the moon shining so bright Turning me into the light Time dances whirling past I gaze through the looking glass And feel just beyond my grasp is heaven Sacred geometry Where movement is poetry Visions of you and me forever Dance me into the night Underneath the moon shining so bright Turning me into the light Dance me into the night Underneath the moon shining so bright Let the dark waltz begin Oh let me wheel - let me spin Let it take me again Turning me into the light
