Re: General advice from published authors to aspiring writers

Aspiring authors? Write about what you love, and love what you write.

The agent? Will read about 300 to 400 MS a week, if they're so inclined. AND only the first 10 PAGES. Does that tell you something? You may get lucky and get a request to send more or you may end up on the office floor. What ever you do. Make sure, when your agent, the one that may happen to read your MS, leaves that office, he/she can't get your story out of their head!

The rest? Is crowded with memories of staring blankly at the screen, listening to shouting kids, trying to remember whether Roslyn was the hero or the heroine of your story and walking around the house early hours of the morning wondering if there's a medieval term for 'insomnia'.
