OK, I'm not really good at reviewing stuff & I often find it hard to pinpoint exactly what it is i like about stuff, but I'll give it a go...

I was honestly hooked from the first chapter, I finished both books in less than 2 weeks & it usually takes me just over 2 weeks per book. Its a fairly fast paced story, it doesnt feel like there are any "filler" bits so personally i wouldnt think of it as epic fantasy, I was a bit worried that it may feel unfinished coz I'm used to reading trilogies, but the story was told really well & it didnt feel like it was lacking a third book. The end of the first book nearly knocked me off my chair it was so unexpected & such a cliff hanger - i highly recommend that you make sure you have book 2 handy by the time you finish book 1... The characters are likeable & understandable, as in your not left wondering what their motivations are...

Hope that gives you guys a bit more of an idea...
