Quiz of Arda. ![]() Welcome Welcome to the Quiz of Arda! This quiz is all about the fictional world created by the genius J.R.R. Tolkien. There's going to be a number of different type of questions, which you will see as we process further and further into the quiz. Rules to play As in any game, there are rules. No exception is made in the Quiz of Arda. 1. Marky Lazer will be the Game Master, and think of a new question (at least once a weekday, Saturdays and Sundays are addtional). 2. Unless stated different, you're not allowed to search for the answer on the Internet. You may, however always use the literal work of J.R.R. Tolkien and his son Christopher Tolkien (The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales of Númenor and Middle-Earth, The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien, and the volumes of The History of Middle-Earth are the basics). 3. Because people life in different time zones and to keep the game fair, you should not post the answer in this thread. Just doing the following if you know the answer: In this thread: [Your name] Private Message to Marky Lazer: The answer. 4. When I ask for an explanation and you give the correct answer but without the explanation, you won't score a point. 5. Rules may be updated in a later stage when it seems I have missed something. That's it for now... let's roll... and enjoy! Last edited by Marky Lazer; 8th December 2005 at 10:55 AM..

Re: Quiz of Arda HMM..I think I might know the answer to this or at least an answer but if I'm correct the question possibly needs to be more clearly stated.. I'll PM you with what I mean.... Last edited by GOLLUM; 8th December 2005 at 01:42 PM..

Re: Quiz of Arda Thank you Gollum, I indeed have to restate my question. I forgot for a second that there's more Húrins. This question is about the Húrin that was the last Lord of Dor-lómin. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: Quiz of Arda I got answers from Gollum and Kelpie. Gollum argued that Húrin used to be a steward of Gondor. He referred to Húrin of Emyn Arnen. And because my question was too vague, he's on the scoreboard. Kelpie said Húrin's sir name, Thalion, means "The Steadfast", which I was aiming for. That title was also sometimes applied to his son, Túrin. That is corrects, and scores her a point. Though, I was actually looking for this: Húrin of Dor-lómin, son of Galdor's last name is Thalion, which means Steadfast. The title Steadfast has also been given as the translation Voronwë. It was given to the first ruling steward of Gondor, Mardil Voronwë. Scoreboard Gollum 1 point Kelpie 1 point Question 2: Is Tulkas Astaldo a Valar, a Valië or a Vala? (And add an explanation)

Re: Quiz of Arda Gollum, Kelpie and Raynor, you were all correct. None fell for the grammar tricksyness. Scoreboard Gollum 2 point Kelpie 2 point Raynor 1 point An easy question for the weekend, we don't want to tire ourselves too much, right? Question 3: Before his name was Gollum, the hobbit that was corrupted by the Ring of Power was called different. What was the real name of this creature?
