| Re: Quiz of Arda I got answers from four persons and am enlightened that only one correct answer was given. Treikayan and Raynor, and even Gollum himself answered the question incorrect. Sméagol was their answer, which is not the good. Trahald, however is, as Kelpie could tell me. Tolkien created an anglicised name for Trahald, which ended up in Sméagol. Scoreboard Kelpie 2 points Gollum 2 points Raynor 1 point Treikayan 0 points Question 4: Provide me with a name taken by (at least) two Arda characters. One was part of the fellowship, the other was fighting along the evil side. |

![]() In this latest question when you say Fellowship are you referring to the fellowship of the ring as in LOTR and Evil side as in the Dark Lord we see in LOTR, please clarify...

| Goblin Princess | Re: Quiz of Arda I thought Sméagol would be enough, too, Gollum. I just mentioned the other, almost as an after thought, to be on the safe side. It looks like our host here wants long answers, not short ones, which knowledge I intend to take to heart. But why am I wasting time explaining that? The next question is going to take some research to answer, so I better get cracking. (Er, Marky, I think your scoreboard is wrong. Shouldn't that be 3 points for me?) |

| Re: Quiz of Arda You're right, Kelpie, I'll fix that tomorow. To make my previous question a bit clearer, I need the name of a character that was part of the Fellowship of the Ring. But another characters with the very same name was in service of Sauron. |

| Re: Quiz of Arda Well due to time differences I'll send my answer later today (mid afternoon here) but I 'm still unclear if Marky means that the answer is literally for eg Boromir or Gandalf or Aragorn, Frodo, Legolas etc.. with the exact same name of someone who works for the Dark Lord or are we talking about a name with the same meaning as a fellowship member but differently spelt name in the native language of the character working for the Dark Lord? Either way not sure if I'll have anything concrete.... ![]() EDIT: Actually looking back I think Marky has indicated it's an exact same name... |

| Re: Quiz of Arda I got answers from Gollum, Dachux and Kelpie, and again, only Kelpie gave me the answer I was looking for. There are more Aragorns, and, I didn't know, but Gollum pointed out there's another Gimli and Legolas, but none were in service of Sauron. So, the answer had some hidden trickyness in it. The correct answer was Bill. He was the loyal pony of Samwise. At the same time, there was Bill Fenris, a minor agent in Bree. It looks like no one can keep up with Kelpie! Scoreboard Kelpie 4 points Gollum 2 points Raynor 1 point Dachux 0 points Treikayan 0 points Now, a bit different question, which needs some explanation. In 'The Hobbit' Bilbo and Gollum have a 'riddle battle'. Well, this is one too. The riddle is about a character or characters in the world of Arda. We come in black and white White as snow, black as the night We sailed south, upon the Great Sea Where we went remains a mystery |

As far as keeping up with Kelpie goes in my case I consider it more an issue of interpreting your questions than any other reason why I'm not on an even footing at this stage. Having said that I can't commit further time to the quiz due to other commitments and Kelpie certainly knows her stuff, so good luck to you all...
