Considering how few people are voting for any of the options, I'm beginning to suspect most of our members live in Greenland, Antarctica, or a small island isolated somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I refuse to believe that 99.9% of us are extra-terrestrials or trans-dimensionals. A handful of us, yes. |

| Re: Where in the world are you from? I'm currently living in the UK, but I was born in the States and just got here a little over a year ago...hehehe, well, okay, not "just" got here, as a year and almost 4 months is a rather long time to be in a foreign country, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not nearly as long as I was in the US. But, the poll did ask where I was located, as opposed to where i'm from, so I chose the UK as opposed to North America....kinda wondering if I shouldn't have checked the North American box instead, though, seeing as how there is a slightly smaller representation of folks from there, and I could just as easillly say I'm from the States as I am from the UK...ah, well...doesn't seem like it's a huge deal in the grand scheme of things which one I checked, me thinks... :-) |

| Re: Where in the world are you from? Has the thread title been modified some? As have, it seems, the poll choices. I admit to browsing these forums for sometime since believing the 'site' was UK based, as opposed to USA based... I think it was Alexander Pope who said "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel!". As for where you are truely 'from', well I guess it depends on how many of your more immediate ancestors lived where you were born (my definition of 'from'). Go back further in time (into the unknown for most) then arent we all from around one particular place? After all, no single land species could have come from several continents all at once, IMO... |

| Super Moderator | Re: Where in the world are you from? I, of course, voted for North America. To be more specific, I am a California native, born and raised in the southern part of the state (on the Pacific tectonic plate) and now living landlocked in Fresno (on the North American plate), very near the center of the state. I've got Yosemite National Park about an hour and a half's drive north of me, San Francisco three hours or so to the northwest, and Los Angeles around four to four and a half hours south and a bit east of me. On a good day, I can see the highest part of the Sierra Nevada mountains to the east - its a bit peculiar to be able to see snow still on the highest peaks in July and August when it's around 105 degrees F here on the valley floor. Oh, and just about due west of here is Monterey Bay, with its wonderful aquarium. |

| Re: Where in the world are you from? From California, northern part of state. Grass Valley is small town (pop. 10000) about 50 miles NE of Sacramento in foothills of Sierra Nevada foothills. This used to be a gold mining town and mostly populated by Cornish miners in 1800's. We are 2000 ft elevation and get a few inches of snow in winter. Mostly its just plain boring here lol. But Sacramento is hour's drive away, the San Francisco Bay Area is 3 hours, and Lake Tahoe (my spiritual center) is only 2 hours away |
