Re: Where in the world are you from? I was born in North America and am a US citizen... but after living in Australia for a couple years and having been "adopted" by some of the aboriginals in the Northern Territory, I also call Australia home.

Re: Where in the world are you from? Have you got any idea how just allowing me to post as being from "africa" annoys me? It is a WHOLE CONTINENT guys, not just one place! I come from South Africa, that is a COUNTRY in Africa. We come to visit the rest of you on a BIG SILVER BIRD and will ask you if you come from California if you know our friend in Miami, because you both come from AMERICA and thus must know each other. Give us a break, check your geography

| anticipating destiny | Re: Where in the world are you from? ^Wow...... Read the thread before you make those kinds of statements. First of all there is a limit on the number of options in the poll so it is not possible to list every country in the world. And if you look at the other options in the poll it is all continents with the exception of the UK, which is there because a very large percentage of users on this site are from the UK (its a UK website). If something like this poll pushed you so over the edge then you must be having some serious identity issues. All of Asia is grouped together even though East Asia, South Asia, and West Asia are vastly different. South America is grouped together, Europe, North America...... |

Re: Where in the world are you from? The reason I get so annoyed about the Africa thing is that when I registered on the site there were all sorts of national options availale to most people, but coming from Cape Town the only option I got was Africa. Like it is some sort of dark continent from which nothing new ever comes! People also have a dreadful tendancy to ask you if you know their friends in Johannesburg, or Lusaka or somesuch, despite the fact that you may live thousands of miles away. Technically I would call myself an Afro-european as my ancestors came from Scotland and Scandanavia, but just to say one comes from Africa is really to ignore a huge place with an enormous amount of diversity. Sure,, I understand there are only certain options on the poll, but given the context of always just being lumped into one category gets rather annoying after a while. And no, I do not have a pet lion.

Re: Where in the world are you from? Actually the poll asks where you are located. It doesn't ask where you were born or which nationality your parents are or anything else. "In what general area is the pc you use to surf on the chronicles located" could be a better description for this thread.

Re: Where in the world are you from? Mrs H (who is South African) has commented that a lot of people in the UK seem to think that lions and elephants wander through the township. Said people are also surprised to be told that South Africa has electricity and running water. I'm in the UK, just to get back on-topic.
